This was absolutely the best show I can remember seeing with MAYBE the Who’s final concert tour in the early 80’s. We arrived at 4:30, the gates opened at 5 PM, and the show started at 6:30 PM. We walked around the pavilion area drinking our $11 24 oz. Bud Lights.
Skynard opened up and played as they always do. We were in section 102, row S, and our seats were dead center of the stage and about 100 feet back from the stage. From the time Skynard started till the show was over, absolutely no one was seated. This was our 1st Kid Rock concert and it was better than I had hoped for. When Kid Rock came out to sing “Picture” we noticed TWO stools. He sang the 1st verse and SHERYL CROWE walked out and took a seat.
We are already looking at other concert dates for the Rocking Rebel tour. Parking was ample but even arriving 2 hours early, there was quite a traffic jam. Kid Rock’s bus was out front and beside it was a booth where they were giving away 8 x 10 glossies of Kid Rock with his tour dates on the back. They had no problem with us carrying in our digital camera so we took quite a few video clips as well as hundreds of photos. I had noticed VIP Box Seats for sale when I purchased my tickets but these were actually behind us. The only benefit I saw to these were they had stools and a bar type rail to prop up on and set your drinks on. They also had waitress service there as well BUT I still would have rather had our seats in Section 102, Row S. The only thing negative, which REALLY wasn’t negative, was that it was 97 degrees that days and it was smoking hot! We were soaked even before Skynard came out and totally drenched by the time it was over.
I never mentioned the opening act which was Johnny Taylor and the Northern Lights. They were pretty good and seemed sort of like a cross between the two main acts. Everyone at the show seemed laid back. We saw no fights, drunks, etc. It was just a grand time in Hot Lanta to see one of the best, kick a$% bands around. We more than got our money’s worth.
The RazorGator service was great as our tickets arrived in plenty of time and as advertised.
